Al'Hair Lake scheme, Riyadh, provides a rich mix of uses under a single fluid stone faced roof; creating a cool protected interior, while maintaining the play of dappled sunlight and visual links to outside.
We provided architecture and urban design support for Happold Consulting in creating a master plan for a destination leisure scheme located on a sub wadi of the Wadi Hanifah south of Riyadh at Al Ha’ir.
The project is made possible by the relocation of a waste water treatment works, from central Riyadh 35km south, to the desert nearby. This facility will provide clean water to enable the landscaping remediation of the sub-wadi and the creation of sport lakes, before being pumped back to Riyadh for drinking water.
The project provides: three new hotels, 1 Million square feet shopping centre, a new theme park with enclosed rides and an outdoor activity area providing a safe family centred attraction.
