Windsor Road Urban Villas are on a transitional town centre site between Slough and Windsor. The scheme received planning permission in 2015.
The architectural identity mediates between the busy Windsor Road and quieter suburban areas to the east. The site is within 10 minutes walk of Slough town centre and in 2018 Cross Rail will provide fast rail links to London.
Three urban villas create a strong, landscaped street edge along a key route into Slough. The visual breaks between villas provide views across the site, over communal gardens which screen on site car parking.
The scheme contains 114 residential units with each Villa having eight apartments per floor around a central circulation core. The apartments have been planned, based on lifetime home guides, to provide generous and flexible family accommodation suitable for a range of occupiers.
Many of the residential units have dual aspect, light filled living spaces with large balconies overlooking the communal gardens. The flats benefit from views toward Windsor Castle or Eton College.
The gentle curved facades along Windsor Road create subtle shadowing with a vertical emphasis when viewed obliquely.
The robust, elegantly banded yellow-buff and blue-grey brickwork chosen for the facades, ensures the buildings will age well and gain a patina so as to become a long lasting street edge along Windsor Road.
